Amazon has announced a recall of 1.2 million portable phone chargers sold under 14 different brand names on its marketplace after CPSC investigations linked the products to 87 reports of overheating, melting, and in 6 cases, small fires.
Products Affected
The recalled chargers were all manufactured by the same Shenzhen-based factory and sold under various brand names at price points between $8 and $25.
- Brands include VoltMax, ChargeElite, PowerRush, ZapCharge, and 10 others
- Common identifier: model numbers beginning with PB20K on rear label
- Sold between March 2025 and February 2026 exclusively through Amazon
- Lithium-polymer cells lack proper thermal runaway protection circuits
Refund Process
Amazon is proactively contacting all purchasers via email with prepaid return labels and full refunds. The company has also updated its product safety requirements to mandate third-party battery safety certification for all portable chargers sold on the platform.
