Amazon has voluntarily recalled approximately 350,000 Echo Studio smart speakers manufactured between August and December 2025 due to an electrical fault that poses a shock hazard. The recall was issued after 18 reports of users receiving electric shocks while handling the device.

The defect involves improper insulation in the speaker's power supply unit that can deteriorate over time, particularly in humid environments. In the worst case, the metal housing of the speaker can become electrified when plugged in.

Affected units can be identified by their serial numbers, which begin with the prefix G2N6 followed by specific batch codes listed on Amazon's recall page. Consumers should immediately unplug affected speakers and contact Amazon for a free replacement or full refund.

No serious injuries have been reported, though three consumers required minor medical attention. Amazon has set up a dedicated recall response team and is sending direct notifications to all known purchasers through email and the Alexa app.

The CPSC is overseeing the recall and has praised Amazon for its prompt voluntary action. The agency recommends consumers register all electronic products with manufacturers to ensure they receive timely safety notifications.
