Hyundai Motor America has announced a recall of approximately 340,000 Tucson SUVs from the 2023 through 2025 model years due to a potential brake fluid leak that could reduce braking performance. The defect involves a manufacturing flaw in the brake master cylinder that may allow fluid to seep past internal seals over time.

The automaker says the issue was identified through warranty claim analysis and field reports from dealerships. In affected vehicles, drivers may notice a spongy brake pedal feel or a gradual drop in brake fluid levels. In severe cases, the condition could lead to increased stopping distances, particularly during hard braking maneuvers.

Hyundai will notify affected owners beginning in early May and instruct them to bring their vehicles to authorized dealerships for a free inspection and replacement of the brake master cylinder. Owners who notice any changes in brake performance are advised to contact their dealership immediately and avoid driving the vehicle until it has been inspected.
