A national pharmacy chain has recalled a batch of generic blood pressure medication after a labeling error caused bottles to contain tablets at twice the intended dosage strength. The error affects approximately 8,000 bottles distributed across six states.
Patients who received the affected lot numbers are advised to contact their pharmacist immediately and not adjust their dosage without medical guidance. Symptoms of an overdose may include dizziness, fainting, and dangerously low blood pressure.
The pharmacy has notified affected customers directly and is offering replacement prescriptions at no charge. An internal investigation into the labeling process is underway to prevent future occurrences.
