The Food and Drug Administration has issued an urgent Class I recall of multiple frozen fruit products sold under the NaturePure brand after testing revealed contamination with Hepatitis A virus. The recall affects products distributed to 38 states through major retailers including Walmart, Target, and Costco.

Affected products include frozen mixed berries, strawberries, and tropical fruit blends with best-by dates ranging from June 2026 through February 2027. The contamination has been traced to imported organic strawberries from a facility in Mexico.

Three confirmed cases of Hepatitis A have been linked to the products, with patients in California, Texas, and Florida requiring hospitalization. Health officials are investigating additional potential cases and urge consumers to check their freezers immediately.

Consumers who have purchased affected products should dispose of them and can contact NaturePure for a full refund. Those who have consumed the products in the past 50 days should consult their healthcare provider, as post-exposure vaccination can be effective if administered within two weeks of exposure.

The FDA is increasing inspections of imported frozen fruit facilities and has placed the Mexican processing plant on an import alert pending a thorough investigation.
