Urgent Safety Recall Affects 2 Million Infant Seats

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Fisher-Price have announced a voluntary recall of approximately 2 million infant bouncer seats due to a serious suffocation hazard. The recall was issued after multiple reports of infants rolling from their backs to their stomachs while in the seat, creating a risk of positional asphyxiation.

Parents and caregivers are urged to stop using the affected products immediately and contact Fisher-Price for a full refund or replacement product.

Which Products Are Recalled?

The recall covers the following Fisher-Price infant bouncer seat models:

Model numbers are located on a label on the underside of the seat frame. The products were sold at major retailers including Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Buy Buy Baby from January 2020 through March 2026, priced between $30 and $75.

What Is the Hazard?

The CPSC reports that infants can roll over in the bouncer seat while unrestrained or while the seat is used for sleep. In the face-down position, babies may be unable to lift their heads sufficiently to breathe, leading to positional asphyxiation.

There have been four reported infant deaths associated with these products since 2020, along with dozens of reports of breathing difficulties and near-miss incidents. All fatalities involved infants who were placed in the bouncer for sleep or nap time.

Infant bouncer seats, rockers, and similar inclined products should never be used for infant sleep. These products are designed for supervised awake time only. Always place babies on a firm, flat surface for sleep.

Fisher-Price Response

Mattel, the parent company of Fisher-Price, stated it takes child safety extremely seriously and is cooperating fully with the CPSC. The company has set up a dedicated recall webpage and customer service line to process refunds as quickly as possible.

Refunds will be issued in the form of the original payment method or a Fisher-Price voucher, at the consumer's choice. No proof of purchase is required — consumers only need the product or a photo of the model number label to receive their refund.

For ongoing recall information, parents can sign up for email alerts from the CPSC at their official website. Staying informed about product recalls is one of the most important steps parents can take to protect their children.
