Fisher-Price has recalled approximately 75,000 Soothe 'n Sway infant swings after testing revealed the five-point harness buckle can unlatch under certain conditions, creating a fall hazard for infants. The recall covers swings manufactured between June 2025 and February 2026.
The defect occurs when the buckle is exposed to repeated stress from the swing's motion combined with the weight of a child at the upper end of the product's weight range. Testing showed the buckle could release after extended use in approximately 2% of units.
One injury has been reported — an infant who slipped partially out of the harness and sustained a minor bruise. Fisher-Price is providing free replacement buckle assemblies with a redesigned locking mechanism that prevents accidental release.
Until the replacement buckle is installed, parents are advised to closely supervise infants at all times while using the swing and to discontinue use if they notice any looseness in the buckle. Replacement parts can be ordered through Fisher-Price's website or customer service line.
The recall applies to models FPC-9847 and FPC-9848 with date codes between 0625 and 0226 printed on the bottom of the swing frame. Fisher-Price has updated its quality testing to include extended fatigue testing of all restraint components.
