Honda has issued a recall affecting approximately 420,000 2024-2025 CR-V and Civic vehicles due to a software defect in the electronic brake force distribution system that could result in unexpected loss of braking power during emergency stops.
Technical Details
The defect involves a timing error in the brake control module software that can cause a 0.3-second delay in brake force application during sudden stops from speeds above 50 mph.
- Affected models: 2024-2025 CR-V (all trims) and 2024-2025 Civic (Sport and Touring trims)
- 47 complaints filed with NHTSA, including 8 reports of minor rear-end collisions
- No injuries reported to date
- Fix involves a software update performed at dealerships in approximately 30 minutes
