Honda has issued a recall affecting approximately 420,000 2024-2025 CR-V and Civic vehicles due to a software defect in the electronic brake force distribution system that could result in unexpected loss of braking power during emergency stops.

Technical Details

The defect involves a timing error in the brake control module software that can cause a 0.3-second delay in brake force application during sudden stops from speeds above 50 mph.

Honda will notify owners by mail beginning April 21. Owners can check their VIN at recalls.honda.com or contact Honda customer service. The repair is free of charge and does not require parts replacement.
