Keurig Coffee Maker Recall: Burn Hazard Affects 1.2M Units
Keurig Dr Pepper has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 1.2 million single-serve coffee makers due to a burn hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Monday. The affected units can overheat during brewing and spray hot water or steam, posing a risk of burn injuries to users.
Which Models Are Affected
The recall covers the Keurig K-Express and K-Express Essentials models manufactured between January 2025 and November 2025. Affected units have serial numbers beginning with S/N 18 through S/N 29. You can find your serial number on a sticker on the bottom of the brewer.
Specifically, the recalled models include the K-Express in black (model K10BLK), red (model K10RED), and sage green (model K10GRN), as well as the K-Express Essentials in black (model K15BLK) and white (model K15WHT).
What the Problem Is
According to the CPSC, a manufacturing defect in the internal water heating element can cause it to overheat beyond safe operating temperatures. When this occurs, the brewer may spray hot water or produce bursts of steam from the K-Cup pod area during or immediately after brewing. Keurig has received 137 reports of overheating incidents, including 32 reports of minor burn injuries. No hospitalizations have been reported.
What You Should Do
If you own an affected model, stop using it immediately. Unplug the unit and do not attempt to brew any beverages. Contact Keurig at 1-866-901-BREW (2739) or visit KeurigRecall2026.com to register for a free replacement brewer. Keurig will ship a new unit within 7 to 10 business days and provide a prepaid shipping label to return the recalled brewer.
You do not need to return the old unit before receiving the replacement. Keurig is sending replacements first and asking consumers to ship back recalled units within 30 days of receiving the new brewer.
Where These Were Sold
The recalled coffee makers were sold at major retailers nationwide including Target, Walmart, Amazon, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl's, and directly through Keurig's website. Prices ranged from $59.99 to $89.99. The units were also included in various gift sets and bundles sold during the 2025 holiday season.
How to Check Your Brewer
To determine if your Keurig is affected, follow these steps. First, turn the brewer off and unplug it. Next, turn it upside down and locate the silver sticker on the bottom panel. The sticker contains the model number and serial number. If the model number matches one of the affected models and the serial number falls within the S/N 18 to S/N 29 range, your unit is included in the recall.
If you are unsure whether your model is affected, you can enter your serial number on the KeurigRecall2026.com website for instant verification, or call Keurig's recall hotline for assistance.
Continuing to Brew Safely
If you need coffee while waiting for your replacement, Keurig suggests using pour-over methods, French press, or visiting a local coffee shop. The company emphasizes that only the K-Express and K-Express Essentials models are affected and that all other Keurig models, including the K-Supreme, K-Elite, K-Classic, and K-Mini lines, are not part of this recall and are safe to use.
Your Legal Rights
If you were injured by a recalled Keurig brewer, you may have legal options beyond the free replacement. Document any injuries with photographs, seek medical attention, and keep the defective unit as evidence. Several consumer product liability firms have already indicated interest in representing injured consumers.
