The Food and Drug Administration has issued a Class I recall for frozen berry products distributed by Pacific Northwest Farms after samples tested positive for Hepatitis A contamination. The recall covers mixed berry blends, frozen strawberries, and smoothie kits sold under multiple brand names at retailers nationwide.
At least 47 cases of Hepatitis A have been linked to the products across 12 states, with 8 hospitalizations reported to date. The contamination is believed to have originated from imported berries that were mixed with domestic fruit during processing.
Consumers who purchased the affected products are urged to discard them immediately and contact their healthcare provider if they experience symptoms including fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, or jaundice within two to seven weeks of consumption.
