Frozen food manufacturer Bellissimo Foods has issued a nationwide recall of its Popular Choice brand frozen pepperoni pizzas after multiple consumers reported finding hard plastic fragments in the product. The recall covers approximately 2.8 million units distributed to grocery stores across all 50 states between January and April 2026.
The company traced the contamination to a damaged equipment guard on the pepperoni slicing line at its manufacturing facility in Omaha, Nebraska. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service has classified the recall as Class I, indicating a reasonable probability that consumption of the product could cause serious health consequences.
Seven consumer complaints have been filed with FSIS, including two reports of minor mouth injuries from the plastic fragments. Consumers are advised to check their freezers and return affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
